According to witnesses (and those who merely heard it, since many would have been hiding under the bedclothes) it was the “biggest light and sound show ever”, “an awesome lightning show”, and “the social event of the year”.

Yet when the Lobby woke up this morning having slept through the “thunderstorm of the century” in Brussels all that it was met with was dank drizzle and lots of miserable looking people holding umbrellas.  The Brussels heat-wave (not a contradiction in terms after all, so it would seem), which saw temperatures reach 30 degrees centigrade yesterday, is well and truly over, and stormy times are ahead.  And for once, this is not a political metaphor.
